Default Writing a Guild Wars Based Novel

As the title suggests, I'm going to start preparing to write a Guild Wars novel (it'll be a story about a band of heroes that begins during the Pre-Searing era and rolls into Post-Searing)

If you would like to be included in this story (which I hope will go further than postings on Fan Fiction sites)... please include the following information about your character:

Character Name: *MUST be realistic... I will NOT include names like, "MadL33tKilla", or "Harrythe Beast".*

Character Race: *Can be any basic race such as Troll, Human, Dwarven, etc... as well as religious background such as the White Mantle*

Character Age: *Can be anything from teenage to elder.*

Character Description: *This includes hair and eye color, height, and weight. As well as mucle build, or anything that is out of the ordinary (tattoo's or scars).*

Profession(s): *If your character is a swordsman, note that. If they are a healer or a crafter... whatever the case is please note this.*

Character Bio: *For this please include as MUCH detail as possible in regard to the characters background. Remember, this story will be started during the Pre-Searing age... so your character obviously must have lived during that time.*

Once I get some information from you guys I'll start preparing the plot (storyline) and getting things organized. I'm going to brush up on my era by reading a few Fantasy novels, and then get started.

You can expect a release of the first chapter this summertime, and release of the entire first novel (which I plan to go ahead with a trilogy eventually) sometime this fall or winter.

If anyone has any questions, comments, or anything else... don not hesitate to post here. I'll try to respond to everyone as fast as possible.

Good deal, thanks. I'll be sure to acknowledge anyone who provides information on their character. So, if you want to be included in the acknowledgement section be sure to include your real name (you can send this in a PM to me if you don't feel comfortable posting it here) If you don't care to be acknowledged, and just want to see your characters name appear in the story then post away without including your name.

I also want to warn you that I will be "making" these characters. They'll be put into the story how I think they best would fit. So please don't get angry at me if say your character was to be killed, or goes on a different path than you had hoped. If you are detailed in your descriptions I will TRY to keep in step with your wishes (I wont need to help these characters grow too much if I have the details).

Along with what was said above... if you absolutely do (or do NOT) want your character to do/be something, then be sure to note that. I will try to accommodate as much as possible.

Piecing together now, i'll attack my work with the lappy tonight.

I've written quite a bit in the past, both as an English major and for my own enjoyment, so I know how to flesh a character out, and having pictures of him as he grew up helps too...

Ever want collaboration or just someone to bounce ideas off, PM me.

Sounds like an idea (work together). I'm not an English major by any means, and this would be the first REAL project I'd be working on... but I think I have what it takes to make it work. I have dabbled before when I deployed overseas but never got around to following through. Always too much on the move.

I wouldn't mind teaming up... like I said I'm looking to do a trilogy at least so we could work on all three together, or each take one and finish the last together. I'll see about sending you an e-mail.

Let's go with those names and info people! Be a part of history. Hehe. If you don't have any ideas for a character bio, you can just post a name for me to use and I'll make it work.

Character Name: Fatal Kiss

Character Race: Human

Character Age: 26

Character Description:

Brown Hair
Silver Eyes
Scar on her left thigh from a run in with a Charr Axe Fiend at the age of twelve

Her armor is drake scale, hand crafted and infused with the essence of war, taken from the dried blood of a charr warband leader named Grazz Bloodfist, which is slathered over every inch of her menacing battle carapace.

Profession(s): Ranger/Mesmer with pet stalker named Moon Bender

Character Bio: Much of the background for Fatal Kiss is lost to all but her own memory. She was born and raised on the outskirts of Ascalon, in a little shed owned by a hermit named Menton Felthisk. Menton was a stern teacher of the ways of the woodland people, but he always showed Fatal Kiss a strong sign of devotion and respect.

Although hardy as a younger person, there was always a silent dark cloud hanging over her head. Fatal Kiss learned early in life to let the rages from one's bad experience channel into the flesh, and therefore life, of her enemies.

She is a proud warrior, but not without a lack of trying. She is strong of will and mind, and is first on the scene to help out an endangered friend or uncapable weaker person. She has a strong affinity for the Deldremor dwarves, and longs to one day meet their king.

The searing has left an indelible mark upon the personality of Fatal Kiss. Although she is forever on the side of those in distress, her ability to hold onto hope is nill, at best.

Fatal Kiss may be found currently roaming the wilds around the ruins of Ascalon and up north in the Shiverpeaks. She spends her time looting and raiding enemy and monster settlements, and is known from time to time to appear in civilized areas to give away free equipment to those in need. She is the founder and maintainer of the Sisters of Teal, which is designated as a guild by the other denizens of Tyria, but more closely resembles a sisterhood of like minded, goal-oriented sentients bent on safe guarding what little humanity has left to its name...

Always ready for the worst in other beings, and the machinations for which they are known, she nevertheless is on a march to destiny. Whatever form it takes...is up to you

Thanks for the input SOT... I'll see what I can do. I might have to use that name "Fatal Kiss" as a nickname that she's gotten... as I want to try and be as realistic as possible. If you can think of a "real" name for her, let me know. But I'll work what you have in.

I've been writing all of my life. I have 4 books published (self published in actual book format, from various methods) and have over 4,000 poems to my credit. I have written several short stories in my time, and have amassed a rather impressive catalog of musical composition.

In essence, writing and gaming are what I do best

Yeah, this will be my first REAL project. But I've been looking for just the right thing to come along that will motivate me into going through with it. My hope is it to have it/them published in some way or another.

Good to hear Krekaln... I need as many characters as I can get. Granted I could come up with some myself, but I think it's more fun when you guys get to read it and see "yourselves" in it.

Character Name: Krekaln Kragen

Character Race: Human

Character Age: 17

Character Description: Male, has White/silver hair blue eyes, pale skin, about 5'11'' and very skinny. Mean, sarcastic, not quite evil but certainly not good. Strong willed, quick to point out flaws in others, especially those regarding intelligence.

Profession(s): Necromancer only

Character Bio: Born in lions arch before the searing. Until the age of six he knew nothing but happiness. He played games with his older brother Faijin and went fishing often on the docks.

Then the searing came. Nearby Orr was suddenly obliterated and no one knew why. Undead creatures started appearing and lions arch had to fight along side kryta to fend them off. Krekaln's mother and father were among the first victims. Faijin(14 at the time and a novice elementalist) was enraged at hearing the news and rushed off to avenge them any way he could. No one could stop him and many ended up following him, even adults.

His band of followers marched through the armies of undead and mercilessly slaughtered hundreds of them. Mounds of decayed and bones corpses lay around them. Then a new creature appeared. None before had seen it. It had great wings wrapped in leather and horns that looked as though they could pierce through the toughest armor. Its head was down, it looked up and smiled at them.

The rest of what happened is unknown. The only one who returned was a young warrior who sprinted off the second he saw that toothy grin.

Krekaln having lost his family roamed around the town in the shadows looking for something to eat. His family had many friends who would have helped him, had they still been alive. He struggled with his meager existence for quite some time until one day he did something quite unexpected.

He was looking through some trash in an alley one day when he saw a rat lying belly up on the ground. Normally he would have just picked it up and ate it. This time he looked at it and wondered, "This little animal could have done so much for me if only I could have tamed it." As if in a trance he was day dreaming about this little rat helping him gather food. Except the little rat didnt look quite right. It was all boney and red with various entrails dragging across the ground.

He opened his eyes and saw it sitting there looking at him. He blinked in confusion, then he laughed. "I've only heard of people doing this in stories!" The little rat twitched its nose and nodded its head knowingly. That day on he honed his ability to a very sharp point. Now able to raise almost anything that once lived, and many at one time, provided he has enough organics/remains to work with.

Krekaln also firmly believes his brother is still alive. He searches for his brother soon after he discovers his ability. If his brother isnt dead, nothing will stop krekaln from making him become alive once more..

i fear im having too much fun with this. I really didnt mean to write this much >_> i dont even know if its good. Do what you want with it.. i reluctantly hand it to you =p

er ignore the scar, forgot to take it off

Sounds like a lot to work with Krekaln. I'm going to start piecing the plot together tomorrow (playing hooky from work).

I decided to do a series of "scrolls". Each one will tell the tale of each character (main characters... 5 or 6 total, leading up to...)... then, the final few chapters will have them working together and meeting for the first time. The first book will set the pace for the following two.

This should be pretty fun.

Name: Kayin Alvein

Age: 24 (at least he thinks)

Race: Human (ethnic characteristics most closely related to that of Native Americans)

Character description: See attached screenies for part of this, but as for the rest... Eyes: bright blue-green, prominent scar across left cheek, made by arrow in training as a youth. Medium-slight build, approximate height 6' 5" to 6' 6". Wears carved blackwood wrist splint and arm guard, mostly to prevent injuries while rapid firing. Enjoys the concept of "trick shots", such as pinning enemies down or scaring them by sending arrows close enough to be seen but not hitting.

Can basically be considered the quintessential philosophic drifter, has no qualms about killing when he needs, but isn't evil, gives gifts of what he doesn't need, but isn't good, just there. If anything, a perfect cynic. Abandon, and nature. That and the pig.

Warthog familiar, called Snort. Big, nasty, smelly, lives off the land and other people's garbage. He's a project foisted on the people of Ascalon, as Kayin watches their reactions and basically just laughs. He stops Snort from going too far, but he rather enjoys watching people get flustered.

People do happen to know who he is, though he never seeks the attention. The term Serafita means "fallen angel", and is applied to him basically because of his ability to destroy anything he really cares to, but he seldom really cares to. Mostly, he'd rather be swimming, or chasing something to eat. He does that a lot.

The only reason he's in this conflict is to see what happens. If Charr get pincushioned, so what?

Manderlock "The Rage" Mudfellow (He has since left his last name behind)

Race: Human (though he hardly feels alive)

Age: 28

Descrip: 6'5" with long brown hair. Has many scars over his musular frame, but the most noticable is the one on his left eye. It was a amazing that the he keeped both eyes, but he still has two dark brown eyes. He rarly smiles and is offten gruff while voicing his opinion, he has a good heart but has locked it away. He will not alow it to be hurt agin.

Prof: Warrior Necromancer

Bio: As a boy Mander was quite popular, do to his charm and good looks. He was always laughing and was the ideal child. His father was forced to fight in the guild wars, but he was a great man. The people thought that as long as they had the great pally Barson The Holy fighting for them they could never be beaten.

At 13, Manders world turned upside down. Their rival guild discovered where Barson's family was located. In the Guild Wars very few people where worryed about honor, so they atacked. Mander tryed with all his might to defend his mother and sister, but he stood no chance anginst such seasoned warriors. He resived many wounds, the scar on the eye was one of them, and they left him for dead. Manderlock had to lay barly concious and listen as they did what they wished to his mother and sister. After they got what they wanted from them, they killed his mother and sister and caught the house on fire. Manderlock thought that for shure he was dead, so he curesed himself for not being powerfull enough to stop the intruders, and waited for death. He was saved by a powerfull necromancer. The only reason that Gergoth ( the necro) saved him was he thought that he would make a great student. All of the Hatred in the boy had called to him through the night, and the necro was both scarred and thrilled at that much hate in one being.

Alas Manders troubles where not over. The great Barson having heard that his whole family had been wiped out, did to himself what no other man could. They found him with tears on his face and the bottel of poison in his hand.

Manderlock The Rage, as Gergoth called him, became a quite powerful necro. Mander would not forget however the teachings of his father, and his warrior skills soon out shined his necromancer counterparts. Gergoth knew his student could grow in the dark arts and even surpass him, but Mander would have nothing of it. At 17 he left Gergoth to live a life on his own. He has wandered the land withdrawn and always looking for a good fight. He dosent know if he is trying to curb his rage, or kill himself. What he truly needs is a friend, but he will not open up his heart again without full trust in that friend.

Character Name: Katender Ragedge (Either known as Kat, or Kay.)

Character Race: Human. No religion.

Character Age: 32

Character Description:
Hair - Bright red.
Eyes - White.
Height - 5'8.
Weight - 130-140 pounds.
Build - Fragile.
Gender - Female.
Other Info:
- Blind.

Profession(s):
- Mesmer.
- Wood working.

Character Bio:
I'm just going to skip stuff here, so some you can pretty well imagine yourself.

Kat as a child was always curious. Getting into trouble quite often for poking her nose into places is doesn't belong.

The city she lived in was from the far south, now long destoryed. What was the city known for? Why hijacking and theivery. For weeks ships would sail out to the north and capture goods from trade vessels.

With all the evil in the city, you can imagine the fights and brawls that break out constantly at local bars and pubs. Quite often it was either members from the cities magic guild poking fun at how slow and stupid the cities warriors are that would start these fights, which end only in two ways. Either someone dies to an well thrown knife or lighting bolt, or, the ones with some authority would appear and pull their men out of these fights.

Finding men worthy enough to take part on a ship set out to pillage the sea was quite difficult. Most would rather sit around drinking cheap and whoring for the rest of their life. Low on money? Steal it.

This isn't the best place for anyone to grow up. Living with a mother who has been abused and used so many times, she has lost the ability to bare anymore childern. Surviving by what her daughter can steal and any money she can make was hard.

She has raised Kat hoping that the girl can one day leave this city and move onto a better life then what she had. Often using what little money they could gather to have Kat trained by deadly rogues and theives, who are often amused to watch a girl of 8 stumble around trying to find her footing on a rooftop or to have her duck from a dagger that bounced back.

Over the next couple of years, she grew.

Taller then other kids, but as thin as a twig, she soon could leap from rooftop to rooftop, often trying to catch her teacher in a game of cat and mouse. Her youth would give her and advantage of energy, but experience always out done her. Illusions and shadows would catch her eye as her teachers would try and catch her off balance, making her stumble durning her chase.

Again, she grew.

As another year went by, some of the random warriors and mages would hit on her, trying to bribe her with money and riches for her... Use. Raised with more brains then the common fool, she would often say no, then forced to use her speed and agility escape those who don't like her answer. Months would go by, and people would still attempt to grab her, but leaping away with speed always got her out of trouble, and with a little more coin in her pocket. The fools never pay attention to her quick hands as she steals money right out from under their noses. Earning her the name, Kat. No one is actually sure what her birth name is, all legends about this woman often just call her by her title.

Her 11th birthday brought upon bad times. Early in the morning men raiding parts of the town looking for some robbing deserters from a ships broke into the house upon a lead by someone in the road. Using more brawn then brains, these men who are quite furious to have been ripped off of their plunder would listen to anything.

Waking to the sound of snapping wood, Kat moved to her door to listen incase she should try and escape. A few seconds later a thud sounded from down the hall and boots were walking towards her little room and a small storage area for anything they couldn't trade or sell.

Throwing on clothes she quickly sneaks out the window and climbs up onto the rooftops of the city, watching as people walk the streets, oblivious to what is going on inside of the house. Worried about her mother she tries to find a better vantage point to see what could be happening in the house.

Moving alone ropes and rooftops she is soon a couple of blocks down the street, but has a decent view of the lights moving around in her house. The tower she climbed up onto took a little while so she starts to wonder if her mother made it out ok.

Her trained eye sight picked out something. Someone she apparently missed in her thoughts and scurring around. This someone on her roof, leaning over the edge looking three stories down at the men now gathering at her doorway.

She can't quite make out who it could be, even with her broad knowledge of the theivory underground. Perhaps someone new in the city, fresh off of a ship?

She starts to move back along the rooftops towards her home a moment later as the men start to leave her house. Trying to keep an eye on the dark figure crouched on the edge she wonders who is this person, what happened to her mother, and why did they break in?

Landing softely on her roof, she stands there looking at the person. Walking quietly up behind the person, she hears a voice ask her what is her name? Replying Kat, the figure stands up and turns around. The early morning sun as it breaks shines a line of light off of the water, sending the reflections bouncing off of the city buildings behind her, revealing a rather plain looking man wearing clothing just as equal.

I have a gift, from someone who has watched you, the figure says, taking a cloth covered item from his belt and places it on the rooftop. He turns around and jumps off the side without another word.

Walking to the edge she looks down and watches him as he turns down some allies a few blocks away. Unsure of what to do, but curious as to who he was, what did he leave, and if her mother is ok, she decides to take the item with her to see if her mother is in the house.

Picking up the item reveals it has almost no weight except for the heavy wool covering. Walking to the edge, she climbs down the side and looks around in the doorway. Walking in, the warm light from the sun casts rainbow colours along the shore line, reds and yellows start to appear in the house. Unsure of what to expect, she calls out, waiting for a responce. Moving farther in she stops as the familiar bulk that has always been there for her, the bulk that is still wearing its night clothes, the bulk that is her mother, is laying on the ground at the entrance of the hallway. Rushing over she stops and loses any hope.

The warm yellow and red lights reveal a slowly pooling substance that she missed upon entering. Fooled by the colours.

Sitting down, she tries to understand what happened. Men broke in, killed her mother, and left? Why? What did her mother do?

Growing angrey, any fear and emotion vanishes. She wants to find out what happened, why these men did this, and kill them. All of them. Her mother. It was her mother. Her teacher and only friend. Who did all she could to help her, to give her the wisdom of life and the common sense to use it. Who made she her daughter would be free. Free of a city full of murders, theives, rapists, and drunkards. And these men killed her.

Sitting there, reflecting on memories, the reflections of the sun start to die off as time continues.

Anger.

Waking up from her daydream, her head feels like its full of pressure. Hairs on her neck standing on end. Her pulse is racing faster then shes ever felt in any training session of cat and mouse.

Something rubs her leg.

Looking down, she remembers the item left by the stranger. Reaching down she picks up the light object and puts it on her legs. Slowly unwrapping whatever is in there she looks at the body lying some feet away. Anger.

Holding the item up, she examines it in the sunlight. A stick? Who would leave her a stick? There. Her keen eye sight picked out something on it. Holding it closer she realizes its covered, from top to bottom in little runes. Any normal eye would have mistaken it for a twig off of a tree...

Standing up she keeps it infront of her... Anger... Killers, murders... Thoughts race in her head. The last thing she ever sees is a light. Brighter then the sun, so hot that it put the cities forge to shame. A light. Red.

The runes on the stick explode outwards, covering her in its light. Thoughts in her head, all of this anger, exploding out in such force. All the wrongs shes seen, all the unjust killing, unneed stealing, all the evil.

Hours later. A feeling. Soft and warm is rubbed along her leg. Sitting up she tries to open her eyes. Nothing. She can't see anything. Rubbing and shaking her head around trying to focus or have some colour appears only makes her dizzy. The warm feeling stopped.

A little sound from infront of her catches her attention, reaching out she feels a warm body. Followed by a purr. A cat? Picking it up she holds it close. Cold breezes brush against her, the smell of the sea is noticable. But there is something else.

Holding the cat she reaches around for something to help her, trying to remember the layout of her house she stands up, feeling the cat hang onto her shoulder, purring loudly in her ear. Walking towards the house entrance slowly incase she misjudges distance, it feels a little more cold then it should. And the smell is stronger then she realized.

Taking a few steps, something is under her foot. Feeling it before she takes her next step. Reaching down she picks it up. Its that stick... That stick, the one that blinded her. Putting down the cat she holds it in her hand, hoping it will let her see again. A few moments of waving it around and trying to order it into submission, she gives up.

Weight? It feels heavier... Yet still light? Reaching out with her other hand, she feels it... It feels longer, much longer. Judging from the size, its about her height. Works for her... She needed something to help her walk around the city. She cant let people know shes... What was that? Light???

Attempting to do what she just did again, she grabs the staff and starts to feel around. The cold from the breeze she doesn't feel anymore. The slience from the city around her, something she never realized, becomes obvious. There should be a lot out right now, it can't be more then a few hours that has gone by. And why is no one in here? That light was pretty bright... Maybe everyone is blind? Thoughts run in her head.

Light. This damn stick, it did this. Rubbing her hands on the stick she feels warm. More light? She can make out small bits of things now... Mainly which way the sun is.

Again, trying to figure out this staff... Yes, light. She can make out light. It doesn't look right. Everything looks... Red. Sitting down she closes her eyes. Its still red? Shes still blind... She can just seen things for some reason? But why? What is going on here?

A voice. From behind her. She can tell someone is about to speak.

Turning around she waits. Very good the voice says. You are catching on quickly. I have much to do, so I'll help you along with your learning process.

The questions in her head are racing a mile a minute. Who is this, what is going on, why is he in her house??? Why can't she really see anything except for a red light?

Thats enough, no more questions, I'm answering them right now, the voice says, she can now tell its male, but it has an older tone to it. Yes, I'm a man, my name isn't important...

Hours later she hears the tale. The man is a mage. Part of the guild in the city. He has spent most of his life here, learning and training himself, teaching himself ways of magic, ways of emotion... Starting with her.

He needed someone who has never done anything in their life wrong. Someone pure enough. Why...?

For armageddon.

The staff she is holding is his life long gift to her. A person who knows evil and yet isn't. He selected her now before she becomes too old, sucked into plans of others, curropting her soul. He needed a person to set it off.

He explained that the stick, focuses anger. And feeds off of it. She has yet to find out what it can really do. Really do?

The entire city is gone. It was burned. Her anger, all of her thoughts fed it enough energy to kill anyone who has done a unjust wrong. A burning red fire of justice. Leaving only the bare black untainted earth behind.

That staff is more then you can imagine. Its uses are limited to how much anger you have built up. The more there is, the more its fueled. You fed it enough to destory an entire city, all because of your dead mother, he explains.

She is still standing, listening to this man...

Your blind am I right? The light of justice is mean, it took your sight. But. It gave you sight in return. Think of decent thoughts, ones that make you feel good inside...

7 years old. Her mom took her to her first training session. She had no idea what to expect but by the end, both the theif and her mom were giggling at her antics. Tripping over her own feet. That was a good memory, her mother laughing...

Blue? A bright blue light shines in her sight. Highlighting the area in a glow... Her house, nothing left. Looking around reveals the same about the entire city. Rubble, but covered in a blue light...

That light you see is purity, caused by all that evil you killed. There is nothing left!

Looking down she notices that cat has a little blue glow around it. Just sitting there looking up at her.

There is nothing to be said about the man. A black covers him... There is no radiant glow...

Your mother is dead. Red.

His words stab her in the heart. Looking at where the spot of where the body use to be, she feels the anger build back up...

Control it. You killed those men, and all the other people in this city already. There is no reason to think of it again... Those words, they are right. The red slowly fades, but lingers. There doesn't seem to be any in between for these colours. She is either angery or happy... Or blind.

Red? A bright red is covering the man now. No longer black she wonders about it...

He seems to beable to read her mind very well, for soon as she thinks it, he says to her, I am one of the guity souls that had the knowledge to leave the city. I knew what was going to happen and I have more plans for my life then you expect.

A little more anger builds. For some reason he starts to really shine, a weird glimmer over his body... She apparently missed one when she blew up the city. Guess if she didn't she would have no clue what is going on.

Care to know why I left the city, besides the fact that I knew you were going to unleash the magic found in my lifes work there? First thought in her head, no. Second thought, well, maybe...

No? No? My, for one with the name Kat, you don't seem to be too curious right now dear. So I'll tell you... A few gold can make anyone leave a ship. A few more gold peices and it will make anyone leave a ship with its treasure. A little whisper on the street can start rumours. Grease another palm and you have a messenger.

Thoughts flashed in her mind... Shes not sure how they are there, but she watches as this man hands some gold to others on a ship... Watches as these men in the middle of the night take a months plunder and run off into the night... Watches as the ships crew wakes up in the morning and finds it missing... Watches as their fury and anger build... Watches as this man pulls one of the crew aside and whispers something into his ear... Watches as the men break into her house... Watches as one of them...

A flash of red fills her vision. Leaving the land in a dark mist, the lone figure infront of her a blazing red mantle. She can feel the staff sucking up the energy from her anger... Feels it grow smaller, more compact, shrinking...

As it starts to take on its forum of a twig wand again, he speaks up, now now, no more of that, he says. With a wave of his hand the stick stops growing. It slowly reverts back to a staff.

You are probley more angery with me then you should be. Together we killed an entire town of evil people! She watches his red figure do a little jig. Feeling her anger build more... Feeling the staff sucking it up, and spitting back out waves of it at her.

Don't expect to be blowing anyone else up with that little toy, I made sure about that. The more compact it becomes, the more of a threat it is. In its little feeble stick form, it can charge enough energy to well, you have seen. While in anything larger then your arm for example, it won't cause any problems. Judging by how much energy is coming off of that, you must be pretty mad at me. Well, as I like to say, easy come easy go. I must be off. I will find you again when I have need of your services. The riches in this town alone can fund my research for years... And they are mine now.

Daggers. She used daggers in her training. How to throw them quickly... Quietly... And dead on target.

Oh come now, you can't create a dagger out of that staff, I'm sorry to say but its much shorter then your arm dear. A grin appears on his face as he reads more of her thoughts.

She feels something. Deep inside of her, and more pictures form. He never told her everything... The staff... Its bound to her in some magic way. Its her emotions. Losing contact with it leaves her blind and uncaring. He never told her that it can push her over the edge of sanity...

Watching him, hes startled. He knows shes doing it somehow. Knows he hasn't told her everything, that he can't take the staff back now that its a part of her. The staff won't let him until she is dead... If she ever threw it away on her own free will, she would die and he could take it.

The last thought she was reading from him, is that he made a mistake. That justice always catches up to anyone who does wrong... The last of his thoughts fading away as his head falls to the ground.

Standing an arms length away, Kat clams down and starts to think of a happy thought. All the red is making her sick... Looking at the item, a bright shining blade starts to take its form of a walking staff again. Feeling her need to be on her way, reading her emotions... A warm feeling again makes its presence known.

Reaching down she picks up the little glowing blue cat and carries it as she leaves the rubble and death behind her. The rage of the staff fading away, to take the form of a blade another day. But until that day, the blue light will always be found behind her eyes, with a happy thought of her mother, and how both of them are now free...

Notes from me:
As a quick over view of the story, basically Kat was taught speed and movement, developed a keen sight and sound sense as to not be fooled by her theif trainers.

She is blind, but only to the naked eye. She can tell what is really behind someone. Be it land or animal, if its evil or just, she has only to change her thoughts to find out.

The staff is no longer able to cause mass mayham. She never wants to unlock that power again, but has learned that she can shift it into a sword longer then her arm, but as light as a feather as rage builds in her. The staff loses its form and becomes this brillant weapon.

He who caused armageddon misjudged her. The staff takes parts of people it comes into contact with and gives its user any abilities of that person. The mage failed to realize that the staff is short of actually being alive. Fed by her anger, it will wake up and do things more powerful then even after 20 years she has yet to discover. Shes live with the ability to read mines for the justice of all thats decent. Spent those 20 some odd years fighting the Charr threat to the north, and making herself one decent name.

She perfers to travel by herself, because she doesn't like to know if someone has done something unjust in his life by his colour. She won't lash out at these people, but perfers to be weary of them. Once someone loses blue, they can not gain it back.

The cat she took with her belongs to the mage. The cat is ageless due to experiments by the man. Its extreamly keen on always being with Kat, but stays out of the way in battle against the Charr. Its lived long enough to know what a weapon can do to a small creature like itself.

Due to the staff, she has picked up skills of shadow and illusion from the Charr. In combat she gains these ablities by having the weapon when its fully charged by her anger, take these skills from enemies and teaches them to her.

Using these skills and her training as a child in movement and speed, she can be a force that strikes quickly and won't know your dead before your head hits the ground...

Wow, long post, didn't want to but meh. *Shrugs*

Great Idea, and what a thread to do my first post :P

Eveyone has some really cool backstories, I read them all. Even the first chapt... err.. EnDinG's backstory

Here's mine if you will:

Name: Robin Baskfield
Profession: R/Mo
Hair: Greyish White
Eyes: Brown
Age: 21
Height: Really short, 5'4
Body: Slim, but athletic
Residence Pre-Searing: Kryta

Character Bio:

Robin was a pampered kid all through his schooling. The other kids detested him but kept it silent. Robin never knew he was hated. From an early age, Robin knew he would follow in his mother's footsteps as a High Monk at the church in Kryta. He would practice his basic Monk abilities on the Rangers' Pets that where passing through. As a sign of gratitude, one mysterious Ranger, that everyone seems to know, gave him a bow. He accepted it and stuffed it under his bed, never to think about it again.

During Robin's later years in school, near graduation, keeping his Monk abilities top-notch (but still basic skills) was his main priority but on occasion he would pick up one of the school bows to gain extra credits. His teachers always praised him, asking him to join the School Ranger's Guild, telling him he has potential in archery. Robin wouldn't have it and continued on with his Monk training, which made his mother even more proud of him. He had never met his father, and never heard one story about him. Speaking of him put his mom is deep depression only spells could heal so seeing her smile was all Robin wanted.

Then the Searing hit. Robin's mom was in Ascalon meeting with some High Monks over there. A few weeks passed, and as Robin was still using basic healing skills on wounded Warriors, he got a parchment explaining his mother's death. He went into a depression, refusing to believe the letter -- he did not even recognize the name from whom it was from, so how could it be true?

Robin was lucky the White Mantle kept Kryta safe, if he was in Orr or -- shudder -- Ascalon, he would have been dead too. Robin would have had it that way, he would be with his mother again, but the Gods kept him alive. What for, he would ask himself. Almost as to answer his plea, he looked down and noticed the bow sticking out from under his bed. Robin smiled for the first time in months.

He took the bow and trained himself, learning all the trick shots from Hunter's Shot to Poison Arrows. It only took him a week to prepare. He was ready, so he had the local crafter make his some leather armor. Then he stood up in front of the town and told everyone what he planned to do: find his mother, and help the warriors of Ascalon beat the Charr back. The crowed roared, and he set off.
